excitement

Trembling hands,

Beating heart,

Shortness of breath,

An occasional look out the window,

Sitting in the darkness,

Waiting.

Waiting for that special someone

To take you from this darkness,

And into the bright light.

Time crawls along like an old turle,

No need to rush, no hurry,

But the darkness overwhelms.

No sign of life anywhere,

Not in the darkness,

Nor in the light.

While a head slumps over,

A noise is heard.

Quickly to the window,

To the bright light.

Hands quickly covers sensitive eyes,

Only an image can be seen.

Run, run, run to the door.

The door flies open,

And there you see,

You see who you have been waiting for,

Waiting for your whole life.

Arms wide open,

Wanting to be held.

You approach the image,

And embrace it.

Tears fall from watery eyes,

For the long wait is over.

Leave from the darkness

To the bright, warm light.

Love will be your guide

With your partner

Always by your side.
